The new service facilitates migrating from your current tape-based backup solution to a more cost-effective, safer, and faster disk based solution. It minimizes or eliminates the need for old-style tapes and tape drives, as well as for expensive tape transportation and media storage services.

The Secure Data Solution

The Secure Data Solution (SDS) provides a local secure virtual tape backup system at your primary site and a remote virtual tape recovery system in one of the BCI data centers. Your local SDS system offers the flexibility to connect to your mainframe via either ESCON or FICON, or to your AS/400 and open systems via FC/SCSI. The local SDS system then connects to the remote recovery system at BCI via TCP/IP.

How Do I Get Started?

All it takes is a phone call to either SecureAgent or Baer Consulting to arrange a simple, no-obligation evaluation.

Personnel from SecureAgent and BCI will visit your data center and install a Secure Data Solution in a cabinet you provide. We'll send you the IOCP-gen information ahead of time - and you'll be writing secure encrypted virtual tape images.

The remote virtual tape recovery part of the Secure Data Solution will already be installed at BCI's data center, awaiting a connection from your local unit. Once you are comfortable with reading and writing tapes at your location, the appropriate bandwidth is brought online between the two locations and the Secure Data Solution becomes fully operational.

BCI will be responsible for providing managed services and colocation facilities for the remote recovery system. SecureAgent will support the hardware at your location, as well as the entire implementation of the SDS software. The Secure Data Solution can enhance your current DR process to help fulfill requirements not met by existing procedures or due to future industry and government requirements.
